Adviser – Housing
Salary: £43,530 pa (including London Weighting)

Fixed Term or Secondment opportunity for 12 months
About us
The Local Government Association (LGA) is the national voice of local government, working with councils to support, promote and improve local government.
We are a politically-led, cross-party organisation that works on behalf of councils to ensure local government has a strong, credible voice with national government.
The role
The LGA has a strong track record of working with councils and partners to support innovation and improvement, and to share learning across the sector.
Housing will likely continue to be a priority issue for national and local government, and councils are finding new and innovative ways to deliver new housing, to build places, and to reduce homelessness.
We are looking for a capable all-rounder, an individual able to make things happen, comfortable in developing relationships across a range of partners, and experienced in programme managing and coordinating activity across complex and fast moving policy environment.
You will have responsibility for managing the LGA’s housing improvement offer for councils, as part of a small team leading on housing, planning and homelessness policy.
You will work closely with colleagues across the LGA’s improvement programme.
The requirements
You will have the ability, knowledge, and experience to engage with government, local government, and organisations from across the public, private and voluntary sectors.
You will be independent and self-motivated, well-organised and able to lead and co-ordinate a breadth of activity across a range of partners. You will be a problem-solver, and a team player.
You will be able to understand complex issues quickly, and be able to communicate effectively.

The LGA is currently based in Layden House, Farringdon (zone 1), but will be moving back to  Local Government House in Smith Square once refurbishment is complete in Autumn 2017.
