Content of the advertisement:

Want to be part of a dynamic communications team and experience something new every day?
Are you looking for a role where you are given the freedom to be creative?
Do you want to make a difference to the lives of residents across the Thames Valley?
Thames Valley Police is looking for a confident, experienced communicator to join their newly formed Community Engagement team in their Corporate Communications department.
Engaged communities help us to police effectively. They are central to the detection, prevention and reduction of crime and help us to maintain public safety. As you will know from recent national events, it is vital that we sustain and build upon public confidence in the police, and we have created a specialist community engagement function to effectively listen, engage and respond to the needs of the communities we serve.
In this newly created role, your working day will be varied: you will work with local teams and partners to create and deliver a community engagement strategy responding to local policing and crime issues; help to improve the use of digital and social media channels within local areas, both internally and by the public, and identify and implement new methods of public engagement, in particular for ‘hard-to-reach’ communities.
To join our team, you will have either a nationally recognised qualification in communications, public relations, business or journalism or relevant equivalent experience, together with experience of working in a large public or private sector organisation.
Strong stakeholder management skills are critical as a key part of this role is developing relationships at a local level to identify community engagement opportunities.
You should have excellent writing skills for a variety of mediums and a proven ability to plan, prioritise, and implement communications activity, seeing the work through to completion and effective evaluation.
You will also have professional experience of using social media to reach target audiences and enthusiasm for identifying and exploring new communication channels and methods of engagement.
You should enjoy working as part of a team but have the motivation to work independently and the ability to think on your feet.
You will be based at our force headquarters in Kidlington and will be required to travel and work from local areas on a frequent basis, therefore a full driving licence is considered essential.

If you have any queries please contact People Services Recruitment Department on 0845 2 66 66 77 (internal 301 6500) quoting reference 13393.
The closing date for enquiries and receipt of completed applications is Sunday 2nd July 2017.
Thames Valley Police serves diverse communities. To enable us to truly reflect the communities we serve, we are keen to recruit people from Black, Asian and other minority backgrounds. You will need a wide range of skills and experiences which will enhance the services we deliver to the public including an understanding of cultural issues. If this is you, we want you to apply to join us.

Price / Salary: Band 3H, circa £28,085 per annum. Progression based on performance
