The Director of Services will be leading a passionate, highly committed front-line team within a dynamic organisation that has built a strong reputation for excellence in the addiction and homelessness sectors. The role will primarily involve:
Setting a positive management culture in line with SCT’s inclusive Christian ethos, values and mission.
Developing and managing SCT’s services, including the Recovery Hub (Primary Programme, Housing Team, Continuing Care, Progression and Choices), the Drop-In and service user involvement in SCT’s social enterprises.
Ensuring SCT’s front-line services are of the highest quality, in line with current and emerging best practice.
Working with the Director of Operations, to ensure the effectiveness of administrative functions within the services, including monitoring and evaluation, human resources and financial management.
Ensuring the residents in SCT’s accommodation are supported, secure and maintain their tenancy as part of the therapeutic practice.
To contribute to the overall strategy and management of the organisation as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and to deputise for the CEO when necessary and as directed. Main responsibilities:
It will be the particular responsibility of the Director of Services to provide leadership in the following key areas:
Service Development:

Assess and prioritise the development of our front-line services in order to improve and/or extend services.
Develop and implement annual operating plans for SCT services, feeding into and working within SCT’s overall budget.
Work closely with the front-line service managers to ensure that the services are of the highest quality, delivering their stated outcomes and meeting the needs of clients.

Ensure consistent integrative therapeutic practice across all our services, in line with the ‘Recovery Capital’ ethos.
Establish stronger referral pathways to, through and from our services and ensure that the progression of clients is adhered to in line with the agreed timetables across all departments.
With the SMT, review SCT’s services and identify areas for development and innovation.
Ensure the residents in SCT’s accommodation are secure and their tenancies are maintained as part of the integrative therapeutic practice and physical capital element of Recovery Capital, and that the outcomes for this are regularly assessed and improvements made where necessary. Staff Management:

Strategic leadership of the front-line services team.
Management of internal, outsourced and freelance individuals in delivering high quality services.
With HR, to organise the recruitment, training, deployment, management and appraisal of all staff engaged primarily in the running of the projects, in accordance with the relevant policies of SCT.
To ensure that managers and staff have clear targets and appropriate supervision and that individual workloads are assessed and reassigned when necessary.
To lead team days, meetings and to ensure that the team are properly consulted, as appropriate, and fully briefed at all times.
To oversee the development of, and service user involvement in, SCT’s social enterprises, creating pathways in and out of them so that people in recovery may benefit from training and work experience.
To ensure that health and safety standards are fully maintained. Culture:

To build a staff culture where everyone is valued and equipped for their job.
To ensure that the inclusive Christian ethos and values of SCT are maintained and observed, including supporting the ‘whole person’ of service users and staff.
To promote a culture of quality, economy, efficiency and effectiveness. Information, Publications, Media, Operational Support:

Work with the Director of Operations and Communications Team on the production of information and publications for service users and stakeholders regarding the work of SCT front-line services and ensuring it is up-to-date, high-quality and evidence-based.
Support the CEO in representing SCT to the media; in particular, ensure they are briefed on current developments relevant to addiction.
To oversee the day-to-day administrative functions within the Recovery Hub including monitoring and evaluation, human resources and financial management.
To review the beneficiary data with SMT and ensure quality control; to make recommendations of improvements to services as appropriate.
To ensure that all equipment in the project and all other facilities for clients are kept in a good state of repair and working order.
External Relationships:

Maintaining and strengthening our network of professional relationships to inform, develop or promote the work of SCT;
Developing new external relationships including agencies and individuals to maximise the impact and effectiveness of SCT’s services.
Strategic Excellence
Be an effective leader and role model, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
Work collaboratively with Managers and contribute to the development of SCT’s overall aims.
In conjunction with Senior Management & Fundraising teams to ensure that the front-line services programme is delivering against agreed outputs and outcomes for funders; looking for opportunities for improvement and growth.
To prepare and operate within budgets and to comply with SCT’s financial control procedures.
To ensure SCT’s services keep up to date with developments in their relevant sector, continuing to develop their knowledge and practice.
Ensure that SCT’s services continue to have sufficient mechanisms in place to capture the impact of SCT’s work, whilst ensuring the voices of SCT clients are heard.
Publicise the work of SCT to prospective referring agencies and maintain good on-going relationships with them. General Responsibilities:

Engage and inspire people in recovery.
To ensure a safe and secure environment for clients, free, in particular, from alcohol and drugs, and from abusive behaviour and exploitation.
To ensure that all SCT activities are carried out with due regard to health & safety legislation, SCT policy and good practice.

To manage the upkeep and maintenance of the buildings whilst the project is running to comply with the relevant policies and health and safety regulation.
To manage the budget of the project and provide information and reports to the Board of Trustees and Fundraising team when appropriate.
To ensure SCT as a whole is aware of developments in the treatment, recovery and management of addictions which may affect SCT and its services.
To ensure full and active attendance at all training sessions, meetings, reviews and supervision sessions.
To comply with data protection regulations ensuring that personal information remains confidential and secure.
To organise your work to ensure that it is accurate and meets quality targets and reasonable deadlines.
To attend meetings, conferences and events within and on behalf of SCT, as appropriate.
To undertake any other tasks, duties or projects that may arise from time to time or as delegated by the CEO.
Person Specification:
Qualifications and Education
Essential Criteria
Educated to Degree level or equivalent
Desirable Criteria
Leadership, management or project management qualifications
Qualifications or training in counselling, addictions recovery or therapeutic practice
Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria
Sound management experience in recovery & rehabilitation programmes, including: strategic planning and development, innovation, team management, problem solving, delegation and risk management
Ability to think strategically and provide leadership
Strong management experience and ability to lead staff teams effectively
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with staff members, colleagues and external bodies
Proven track record of working in the voluntary sector
Good IT skills in Microsoft Office
Desirable Criteria
Experience of working in or with faith-based organisations
Ability to reflect on and communicate a Christian theological under-pinning of homelessness and/or addictions recovery approaches
Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate quantitative and qualitative data
Knowledge of Monitoring and Evaluation Systems
Experience of developing budgets and managing work within a budget
