A large specialist ASD school in South East London is looking to appoint an experienced primary SEN teacher with ASD skills in either a special educational needs school or relevant mainstream experience.
The role involves teaching a class of 7 children aged between 6 and 7 in a mixed Y2/3 class. All the children are on the autistic spectrum and their attainment levels vary between P6 levels and the old national; curriculum level 1c. They have particular issues related to speech, language and communication difficulties. The children are on the whole easy to manage and they are keen to learn, friendly and likeable. The class consists of 4 boys and 3 girls all of whom have in class support in terms of both learning and personal care.
The school is seeking someone with a strong understanding of the EYFS and KS1 curricula and some experience differentiating for children with Autism. They are used to supporting mainstream class teachers who are taking their first steps into SEN teaching and as a result the school offers outstanding in house training. The head is more than happy supporting a good teacher with limited experience of ASD. Overseas trained teachers with relevant experience and QTS are encouraged to apply.

A proven track record as a good or outstanding teacher
A drive to ensure that all children can succeed
Experience of working with children with special needs (SEN)
Experience teaching primary EYFS or KS1
An interest in ASD
A good work ethic
A calm classroom manner, patience and a willingness to learn

Price / Salary: £140 - £175 per day
