I am working with an industry leading Engineering business based in Greater Manchester, who have an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing manager to join their growing team. This is a global business who have a superb track record of investing in their people and their systems.
The Role
As the Purchasing Manager you will be part of the senior site leadership team, taking full autonomy of all Direct/ Indirect spend for the site (circa £20m). The main remit of the role will be centred around managing the team and driving cost savings and ensuring service delivery for the business, maintaining strong working relationships with the Supplier base. The business design and engineer a range of bespoke products, so you will be working closely with engineering teams to understand specifications in New Product Introductions (NPI).

Source key suppliers and develop relationships with the aim of generating cost saving without compromising on Quality and delivery

Management and development of a team of Buyers

Ensuring OTIF delivery of materials for manufacture

Continual review of new suppliers - process, material, market trends, re-sourcing opportunities, benchmarking, make vs buy decisions etc
The Person
The ideal Purchasing Manager will have had experience in Strategic procurement, within a machining/ engineering environment. You will be looking after direct (machined parts/ motors/ fabrications/ castings) and Indirect spend. The position requires a real hands on manager who leads from the front. Strong negotiation and communicational skills are required in the role, with other key responsibilities to include;

Minimum 3 years+ in a purchasing manager role,

Purchasing experience in a machining/ engineering environment is required
*
Track record of generating cost savings
*
Analytical, have good communication skills and have strong Microsoft Office skills
*
Degree/ CIPS qualification preferred
