Contract Type: Permanent Full/Part Time
YOU is a registered charity that has been providing care, support and advice for over 30 years to vulnerable people across Hampshire and Dorset, giving them the tools and resources they need to live independent, secure and valued lives.
We are proud to announce that our North Hampshire Domestic Violence service is expanding and as such we need to add to our dedicated and passionate Domestic Violence & Abuse Worker team. This is a great opportunity for highly motivated people with a passion to deliver excellent services to join our Domestic Violence and Abuse Service, and make a positive difference in people's lives.
The Role
You First is the specialist domestic abuse service for the YOU Trust and we work across Hampshire delivering excellent services within the community and within crisis accommodation.
You will be part of the You First team providing practical and emotional support to women, men and children experiencing domestic abuse in Hampshire. You need to be proactive in offering support to people living in crisis accommodation and for people living within their own community. 1:1 support with clients is a key function of this role, enabling your clients to understand the impact of DVA. Safety, as you'd expect is a really important part of the role so you will be responsible for monitoring, reviewing and reassessing safety plans and support plans on a regular basis. In addition will also be involved in assessments, facilitate drop ins, lead on and arrange campaigns and awareness raising events. Another exciting part of the role is designing, developing and facilitating group work in both accommodation and community settings.
About You
Our clients have told us they want people who are
warm, friendly, approachable and fun but will always be good at their job and help individuals
able to offer emotional support and someone to talk to
willing to listen to me and spend time talking when needed
able to give information and advice, can do the job properly and know what they are talking about
someone who is supportive of client decisions
Organised in their approach and do things when you say you will
As you can see strong interpersonal skills are key to being a success in this role and meeting our clients' needs. We also need you to be team player, supporting and working with colleagues to get positive results. There are genuine opportunities to be innovative and raise awareness in your role - one of our staff members recently organised for clients art work to be displayed as part of a major art exhibition in London. So if you have a creative and innovative side let us know and we will put your skills to good use.
YOU has a strong value base, striving to be person-centred, innovative, trustworthy, can-do and excellent at all times, so it is important that you are as passionate about these principles as we are.
