Job Description
The Assistant House Manager is accountable to the House Manager and through him Club Manager.
The Assistant House Manager is responsible for the presentation of the Clubhouse facilities and is courteous to all members and visitors using the club. A strong and positive relationship with the all members, guests and visitors is expected whilst being a strong team player with a real can-do attitude.
Major Objectives
1. Assist the House Manager in running the Bar and its staff, Meet and Greet and create a friendly and fun atmosphere through the provision of the highest standards of service to members, guests and visitors.
2. To drive new and current business through the office function responding to all enquiries in a timely and professional manner as required.
3. Assist the House Manager in overseeing the presentation of the Clubhouse facility to a high standard, including all general housekeeping duties and house presentation staff.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
1. Leading, training and supervising of bar staff to ensure they meet and maintain the required standards of service, and adhere to health and safety and hygiene guidelines.
2. Controlling bar stock, liaising with suppliers, negotiating the best buying prices and ensuring orders are placed on a timely basis. Maintain low wastage levels through good stock management.
3. Management of floats, handling cash and cashing up the tills on a daily basis and reconciling the necessary paperwork.
4. Ensure that all bar and cellar equipment is fully maintained and cleaned on a regular basis.
5. Work with the House Manager on a quarterly basis and monitor gross profit margins.
6. Welcome guests, societies, visitors and customers for outside events. Co-ordinate with the office on the provision of food for functions and ensure proper invoicing.
7. Carry out any other duties as deemed necessary by the Club Management.
Skills/Qualifications
Experienced in managing bar systems, procedures for cash handling, stock control, purchasing and cellar management, preferably within the golf industry but not essential
Demonstrate a real passion for the job with motivational, organisational and leadership experience.
Work annualised and flexible hours subject to the needs of the business.
Have excellent customer skills and be an effective communicator with members, external customers and Club management; maintaining a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere at all times
