We are seeking an experienced Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or Licensed Conveyancer to join our clients busy team.
You will have a relevant professional qualification and at least 3-4 years experience in managing a full caseload of conveyancing matters.
Additional experience in Wills and/Probate would be beneficial but is not essential.
Working closely from the office with the friendly team and with the wider Property team, you will be managing instructions from existing clients and dealing with new clients from introduction to matter conclusion.
Excellent business development and networking skills are essential in order to participate actively in seeking new business, building relationships with potential clients, contacts and referrers and developing the firm as a whole.
A high standard of interpersonal and communication skills is vital, especially in the context of client care and we are looking for someone who has a positive and friendly manner in dealing with clients and colleagues.
Key Tasks
To give estimates of costs to new clients, in conjunction with New Enquiries Team, as appropriate
To take initial instructions for Sale and Purchase
To open and progress matters in line with departmental procedures
To undertake administrative work on matters including letter and form production and photocopying as required
To liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders and solicitors by telephone, post, e-mail or in person, as necessary, at every stage of the transaction
To manage a range of residential property matters from initial instruction through to matter conclusion
To undertake any additional delegated tasks including dealing with pre exchange of contract work, title reports, searches, raising enquiries etc.
To manage post-exchange work and registrations, including completion statements
To manage post-completion work including stamping of documents, Registration and Scheduling of Deeds
To maintain your own diary and handle matters arising, in liaison with other Legal Advisers
To cover the property work of other Legal Advisers in their absence
To ensure the confidentiality of all the firms and clients documentation To undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development
To achieve agreed levels of time-recording (as appropriate)
To provide support to other Legal Advisers and Assistants in the Property department as may be required
To be able to undertake Wills and Probate work, or to be willing to develop the skills to undertake this work, alongside Property work
To comply with lender panel and Conveyancing Qualify Scheme requirements
To undertake any other tasks as may be required from time to time In liaison with Head of Department and other Partners, to be active in promoting the services of the firm and its image and ethos
People Management Responsibilities
To set objectives for the team in line with business objectives In liaison with HR, to recruit and induct members of staff as appropriate
To provide training, coaching and learning opportunities as appropriate for new and existing members of the team
To monitor workloads, performance and compliance with the firms procedures
To motivate team members to achieve excellent performance and seek their input to improvements in the way we work
To ensure excellent communication with individuals and across the team To deal with staff issues such as absence or performance problems in a timely manner and involving/advising HR as necessary
To conduct performance reviews and probationary reviews as required and to follow up any issues arising from this activity
To deal with any other day to day Supervisory issues that may arise
Knowledge, Skills & Behaviour Required (Person Spec)
Excellent knowledge of property processes and procedures
Ideally an Admitted Solicitor but applications will be considered from those with alternative qualifications and who can demonstrate equivalent skills and experience
Efficient and well organised, with good control of diary systems and competent in the firms computer facilities
Good time management, matter organisation and personal organisation Effective oral and written communication skills
High standard of interpersonal and communication skills, especially in the context of client care and managing staff
Pleasant and positive manner in dealing with colleagues and clients and direct reports
Flexibility and willingness to provide support as reasonably required to Partners and staff within the office
Ability to plan, organise and delegate to achieve the teams workload Consistency in approach to work, managing staff issues and developing others
Ability to be a positive role model and lead the team by example
Ability to evaluate a situation in the face of time constraints and react appropriately
Price / Salary: £37000 - £42000/annum
