My client a leading manufacturer and developer of bespoke systems, as part of a global supplier base to the most prestigious companies.
They seek a Manufacturing Project Engineer to join their business to drive the deliverables at all stages of the manufacturing processes, in particular; Continuous Improvement, New Product Introduction, and LEAN principles.
Key duties of the candidate;
- Represent the manufacturing department within the Product Commercialisation Process and ownership of the defined deliverables
- Coordinate the development and modification of the manufacturing processes for the new systems and platforms with the manufacturing's systems lead and cell engineers.
- Create and manage planning and deliverables for PCP projects and take accountability for on time to standard and within budget realisation
- Coordinate manufacturing project activities with all other implicated departments (engineering, purchasing, customer support, finance, facilities, product marketing)
- Manage and coordinate the system release into production of the new or modified system (BOM release/EC, cost roll )
- Develop and implement new processes and manufacturing equipment to meet the requirements of our Engineer to Order (ETO), New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Improvement (CI) projects
- Encourage innovation to reduce costs and workflows and guarantees the feasibility and reproducibility of the new or modified system during the project
- Support identification and setup of internal traceability of all critical parts of the new or modified system during the project
- Provide product and project risk analysis from manufacturing point of view
- Define and optimise manufacturing documentation and workflow procedures for manufacturing based upon information supplied by upstream development engineering functions
- Take an active interest in, and coordinate the setup of training programs for new or modified products and processes defined by the project
- Coordinate with procurement the setup of the logistical parameters for the project defined new or modified parts
- Ensure design for manufacture (DFM) and assembly techniques are implemented at the concept phase of new product development, and followed through to completion.
Requirements of the candidate;
- Engineering degree or equivalent
- Experience of working within an assembly environment
- Experience in optimising production processes as well as providing production support and training.
- Design for manufacture knowledge
- Previous experience in key manufacturing principles such as TPM, 8D, 6S problem solving, product responsibility, continuous improvement process as well as new product introduction.
