Childrens Home Manager - Leeds City Council
Job Summary; The Childrens Home Manager is accountable for the day to day running and management of the home in accordance with Childrens Homes Regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
Candidates Profile Ability to lead and manage the home in a way that is consistent with the approach and ethos, and delivers the outcomes, set out in the homes statement of purpose;
Ability to use monitoring and review systems to make continuous improvements in the quality of care provided in the home;
Ability to help children aspire to fulfil their potential and promote their welfare;
Ability to ensure that staff have the experience, qualifications and skills to meet the needs of each child and lead on the recruitment and selection of care staff;
Ability to supervise and appraise the performance of care staff and students;
Ability to promote the development of staff and the service delivered through research and developments in relation to the ways in which the needs of children are best met;
Ability to ensure that the home has sufficient staff to provide care for each child;
Ability to understand and work with children with challenging behaviour who have experienced neglect, harm and/or abuse;
Ability to work with the wider system to challenge professional partners, advocate on behalf of a child and source services to meet a childs needs once identified;
Ability to ensure effective care planning and risk management through continuity of care to each child;
Ability to monitor and evaluate the progress a child is making in the care of the home;
Ability to seek and analyse feedback from all professional partners, children and their families to assist in the development of the homes services and delivery
Ability to pass information accurately and concisely to children, their families, carer team members and professional partners
Ability to be flexible and prioritise workloads
Ability to keep accurate financial records and administrative procedures
Ability to deal with members of the public and other agency representatives in a restorative manner
NVQ Level 5 Leadership and Management for Residential Child Care (or equivalent professional qualification)
An understanding of Council and Departmental Policies and current Child Care Legislation and in relation to Children Looked After
An understanding of adolescent behaviour, child development and attachment
Experience working within the last 5 years, for at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children;
Experience of working for at least one year in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role;
Experience of the administration of staff rotas and information systems
Price / Salary: £18 - £20/hour
