What are we looking for?
We are looking for a talented and experienced individual to join our team in Edinburgh as a quality engineer. As the quality engineer, you will be joining the team responsible for supporting key products from an assurance perspective. The types of products you will be working with will be aero and defense related products for radar systems.
What will you be doing every day?
Product design ensure adequate validation to check new products are robust and capable. Be involved with design reviews, type approvals, environmental testing, route and structure development and capability analysis.
Process development review current and new processes to ensure they meet required capability standards. This may include process proving trials, development of process standards, process capability analysis, failure mode analysis and documentation approval.
Supply chain audit and review suppliers to check necessary controls are in place to prove product integrity within suitable agreed standards for space development and production. This may include external supplier audits.
Manufacturing review production processes operate effectively and proactively promote process improvements. Tasks include KPI measurement of important parameters, effective corrective and preventative action process, process auditing, training and support to Quality Control Inspectors and product release of new projects.
Review and input to manufacturing documentation.
Proactively support the Continuous Improvement programmes for the business.
Qualification be responsible for the creation and implementation of Qualification Test Plans and the writing and submission of suitable reports for customer approval.
Inspection Carry out Inspections of critical product where required (either directly or support to QC).
Part Stress Analysis carry out design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) calculations as required. Also support design engineers for part stress analysis.
What skills and requirements do you need?
Degree/HND within an engineering/electrical/mechanical field OR relative industry experience.
Sound experience and knowledge within quality and product assurance services within an electrical or engineering environment
Strong communication skills
A great understanding of quality management systems
You should be a good problem solver, and able to think outside the box
