Assistant Shop Manager
Southwold
35 Hours per week - Monday - Sunday (Working 5 days of 7)
The postholder will be the shop manager in the absence of the full time Manager. He/she will be able to take full responsibility for the smooth running of the shop and ensure current legislation and Shop Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complete shop paperwork accurately and ensure timely despatch of all necessary paperwork, ie weekly takings sheets and gift aid paperwork. Be trained in the use of the till to enable cashing up at the end of trading for the day.
Ensure that all policies/procedures contained in the Staff Handbook are followed at all times.
Sort through donated stock, identify saleable items and price accordingly. Rag/dispose of unusable stock.
Store stock in a tidy manner.
Organise electrical items to be PAT tested as necessary.
Comply with all Trading Standards regulations.
Maintain a clean and well-presented shop at all times.
Organise window displays and present items in the most appealing way. Dress windows appropriately for the time of year and adopt themes, eg Christmas, Halloween etc.
Rotate stock as per the agreed timescale.
Work towards meeting the agreed financial targets set for the shop.
Undertake any training as necessary.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure all Health & Safety/Fire regulations are understood and complied with at all times.
Work closely with the Manager to suggest strategies for increasing income from the shop and to then help implement such agreed strategies.
Manage volunteers working in the shop, ensuring compliance with the staff handbook, policies and procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
Be responsible for the security of the shop, volunteers and stock at all times.
Participate in the organisation of the volunteers rota in order to ensure the shop is open during the agreed hours, and to advise the Manager whenever a problem is envisaged in keeping the shop open.
Have a proactive approach to Volunteer recruitment and support.
PERSONNEL RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in the induction and training of all new staff as required.
ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Work within the policies at all times.
Ensure effective use of resources.
Respect at all times the confidentiality of information related to volunteers.
Play an active part in the development and maintenance of good relationships with all who have business with the shops.
