Are you a Commodity Buyer from an automotive background?

Are you interested in working on some of the most challenging and innovative automotive projects of recent times?
We are a leading automotive manufacturing company based in Oxfordshire actively seeking a Commodity Buyer to join a growing team. The appointed Commodity Buy will have the following responsibilities;
Main duties: l Undertake supplier selection and strategy to meet business and project requirements as requested. l Identify business goals for cost improvement and continually strive to achieve or better that goal in a sustainable and measurable fashion. l Manage selected customer nominated suppliers. l Set and communicate supplier performance targets and requirements. l Establish production supply agreements to be best in class in commercial terms.
Responsibilities: l Develop and maintain commodity strategies for given commodities relevant to business goals. l Fully support the engineering change management of supplied components and materials. l Actively participate in continuous improvement processes - supplier quality, cost, innovation, delivery and management. l Where necessary take on the closure of quality issues with suppliers, supporting the relevant quality engineer. l Maintenance of Purchasing database l Take a leading role in coordinating the activities of stakeholders to meet business improvement objectives
Skills & Experience: l CIPS membership or the appropriate business qualification. (desirable) l At least 5 years in engineering / manufacturing purchasing environment, with experience and understanding of APQP, PPAP, TS-16949, cost tracking and quotation analysis. (desirable) l Cost improvement techniques and achievement. l Positive contributor to new product launches. l Computer literate. l Highly developed in communication and influencing skills. l Negotiation skills. l Highly numerate. l Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
