A highly regarded carpentry business focused on the Residential sector. One of the largest in the South of England, and working alongside a strong selection of the leading UK Residential companies. Developments range from one-off luxury properties through to multi-phased residential projects.
Job Summary:
You will be an enthusiastic individual who is keen and willing to develop as a Quantity Surveyor, and become a key member of the company. In your position you would be expected to uphold a range of commercial responsibilities that lead to the completion of carpentry projects within budget and on time. This position will ideally be 50 % QS & 50 % Estimating with 1 to 2 days on sites 3 to 4 days in the office.
DUTIES:
* Prepare take-offs/bids for carpentry enquiries received from the client for large housing developments to large prestigious one-off properties
* Carry out contract negotiations during the bidding process and convert into orders
* Provide commercial support during the construction phase, including dealing with any site variations/payments issues that may occu
* Attend meetings with the client as required
* Carry out reconciliation of our existing project accounts, ensuring consistent company cash flow, and settlement of Final Accounts and retention payment
* Produce method statements and risk assessments, training to be provided
CRITERIA:
* Construction related degree or HNC/HND qualification
* Full Clean UK driving license and live within close proximity of our head office in H
* Desire to learn and succeed
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Well organized and methodical
* Confidence and composure to work under pressure
* Ability to grasp concepts and retain information
* Good communication skills
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL
* Carpentry background or some construction experience
