Estimator and Pre-Sales Engineer - Northampton c£35k - £37k + benefits

Our client is recognized as one of the UK's market leaders in the area of automated materials handling solutions, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and highly self-motivated Estimator and Pre-Sales Engineer to complement their established and professional team.

Based out of a prestigious HO environment and reporting to the Technical Solutions Manager, the successful Estimator and Pre-Sales Engineer will demonstrate previous experience of working within a Project Engineering, PLC controls or system testing role and will ideally demonstrate previous exposure to the materials handling equipment sector (such as Conveyors, ASRS, Sortation or Shuttle Technology) and who is looking to move into a pre-sales focused design team.

Ideally with previous experience in the detailed design and implementation of automation systems, the successful Estimator and Pre-Sales Engineer candidate will be expected to:

* Review solutions from CAD drawings and specifications for design integrity and break the solution down into elemental units which can be estimated using costs obtained from internal or external suppliers, standard price lists or metric formulas.
* Assist in the development of pricing metrics formulas to streamline the estimating process.
* Work with solution design engineers to develop project risk registers, combining commercial and technical risk and building a comprehensive library of technologies and costs
* Work with a close knit Solutions Design Team to assist in generating cost effective engineered solutions for blue chip customers.
* Identify and understand new technologies as they come onto the market.
* Generate relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
* Prepare formal cost documentation and assist in the development of sales proposal documentation as required in line with the stage gate process
