COMPANY OUTLINE
A unique and exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and proactive Logistics professional to join a leading fertiliser manufacturer/distributor. With a strong national presence, and the widest variety of products related to the service market, this business is a true market leader.
Due to recent business acquisition, and sustained growth, this is a brand new role to the organisation. Working closely with the Logistics/Shipping Manager, you will provide overall support to ensure a proactive approach to all logistical issues.
THE ROLE
Reporting directly in to the Logistics/Shipping Manager, you will provide support for shipment across the 12 national sites. You will proactively liaise with suppliers on vessel nominations and fixtures, ensuring accurate and timely shipment. Evidencing supply chain experience, you will maintain up-to-date documentation including; shipping statements, Bills of Landing and customs clearance.
Working closely with the internal team, you will communicate product availability to Sales Managers and Transport Coordinators. Additionally, you will work closely with Site Managers to detail shipping programs, ensuring all vessels have capacity to be unloaded on schedule. You will also maintain records of supplier product specification; actively monitoring stock levels to ensure that any surge in demand is able to be met.
You will show an analytical approach on reviewing packaging usage and requirements, as well as analysing raw material requirements across all 12 sites - reporting findings to Site Managers. To ensure the highest service levels are achieved, you will monitor delivered packaging specification vs supplier specifications; tracking all claims against suppliers to resolution.
Showing strong numerical understanding, you will compile statistics for industry bodies and government, including fertiliser formulations and product codings. You will also work closely with the internal purchasing team, so financial understanding is essential.
THE ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Working in an autonomous and business critical role, it is essential that you bring a proactive and dedicated approach to this position. You must show experience of working within a logistics/supply chain function - ideally within a similar industry sector. Due to travel required for this role, you must carry a UK driving licence.
You will show experience of import/export procedures, along with transport coordination and stock rotation. You will show a methodical and logical strategy, with the ability to prioritise workload and adapt to change in demand.
You will carry sound financial understanding, with the ability to analyse statistics and costings. You must also be highly IT literate, with working knowledge of MS Excel.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Competitive (depending on experience) + 25 days holiday + free onsite parking
HOURS OF WORK AND TYPE OF CONTRACT
This is a permanent contract with a potential start date of January 2018/Hours of work are Monday - Thursday (9am-5.30pm) Friday (9am - 5pm)
