Male Support Worker/ PA/Buddy 10 hours per week with flexibility to work up to 20 hours as required. Flexible support throughout the week to facilitate social, leisure and vocational activities.
POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide a flexible support service to a young man with mild Cerebral Palsy. Acting in an enabling capacity, the role will be to help organise, motivate, remind, transport, socialise and support the client in an out-of-house environment, for example: accessing local leisure activities, vocational services and help interact socially with peers.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To work within a multi-disciplinary team to carry out tasks identified in the individual treatment programme of rehabilitation.
To assist the individual in activities within the clients interests
To work with the individual to reinforce and develop social skill, the development of friendships, interests and hobbies and the use of community facilities and independent travel, along with enabling the client to develop independent living skills in a public environment.
Provide necessary and appropriate emotional support with the aim of facilitating an increase in clients self-esteem and independent living skills

Ability to build good relationships Ability to be proactive and show a high degree of initiative
Good communication skills and able to listen and show empathy
A good motivator and organiser, with a positive and humorous personality Someone who is adaptable and flexible in their working methods
A recognition of issues involved in team work

DESIRABLE ELEMENTS:
Previous experience of working with clients with cerebral palsy or other disability
Knowledge of cerebral palsy or similar physical disabilities
Experience working within education
NVQ II in care or equivalent
Interest in sightseeing, music, sports and technology
Ability to interact with the client and his friends in a way it would appear you are one of the group whilst maintaining a professional attitude at all times
RATE OF PAY: £10 PER HOUR
