Farne Salmon and Trout Ltd, Scotlands Best Employer to work for 2017, are back in Peterborough working with Pertemps again.. The purpose built labelling and packaging site is located on Funthams Lane, PE7 2PB just off Peterborough Road (the road between Stanground and Whittlesey).

Farne buy in fresh Salmon and Trout, which is then filleted, cured and smoked using conventional and traditional smoking processes. The smoked Salmon is then sliced and packed ready for supply to retail and catering trades both in the UK and continental markets.

All the prep work with the fish will be done in Scotland before the fish is sent to Peterborough to be labelled and sent out to retailers. There will be no handling of raw products at this site, everything will be pre-packed. Here we will be placing the labels on the packets and re-boxing them ready for delivery to the retailers.

It's a chilled environment, around 8-12 degrees Celsius so blue overall coats will be provided to wear over your jumpers/coats. Because it's still a food site clean indoor only footwear and a changing area will also be provided, so you can change out of your shoes and into your work shoes as you come into site. You will be able to have one earphone in to listen to your music whilst at your workstation, of course you will be able to talk to your colleagues too.

Hours are 8am - 5pm Monday to Sunday, you will be expected to work any 5/6 days out of the 7. Pay is £8.50 per hour. There will be no cancellation of shifts, cutting hours or sending people home early (unless you want to go), However if the work is completed ahead of schedule you may get to go home and still be paid for the full day. There is a brand new break area, on site parking and lockers available.

The site is right in front of the McCains factory, so really easy to get to. 10 mins walk from Stanground, 5 mins drive or a 15 minute bus journey from the city centre (route 31/33).
