Payroll Analyst/Controller

Location: Northampton

Type: Full time, Permanent (40 hours)

Duties

The role encompasses, but is not limited to:
- reconciliations of payroll advance, stopped cheques repayments, rejected BACS, cheque
advance recovery
- verifying supporting documentation for VAT paid via payroll
- checking payslips against online calculator to ensure cumulative PAYE, NI and other
amounts are correct
- checking PAYE documentation is loaded on front-end systems correctly
- checking tax codes and NI number changes from HMRC have been applied correctly
- audit of statutory payments such as SMP/SSP
- reports management and production, including:

* weekly payroll summary by worker and payroll elements
* new starter
* live workers
* statutory payments i.e. SMP/SSP/SPP
* holiday entitlements taken/remaining
* HR reports, including gender pay gap and any other statutory or ad hoc reporting
* leavers P45s & types (average length of service)
* data for National Statistics Office
* KPI's/statistics for the payroll function including number of workers paid, advances, repayments, and helpdesk query types

Any other duties deemed reasonable and in line with departmental and company-wide objectives

Strong customer orientation and comfortable liaising with non-financial colleagues
Ability to manage numerous conflicting priorities, work under pressure and to deadlines
Experience and payroll/accounting technical ability
Excellent IT and systems skills (Microsoft Excel & word, Google)
