We are looking to recruit a transport shift manager for a client based in Oldham area. Our client is a national company who are looking for support in their transport team. this role is working Monday to Friday 14:00 -22:00. this is an 8 week role to support our client through their busy peak period

The role of Shift Manager holds responsibility for the day to day transport operation of the site and associated out base locations ensuring agreed service levels are maintained whilst being carried out in an efficient and safe manner. The Shift Manager will work closely with the Management team to ensure continuity of service

** Duties **

* To ensure the execution of all planned schedules for the site.
* To maintain high operating standards ensuring the transport function fulfils it legal responsibilities relating to the Operating Licence.
* To ensure absence, performance and other ER issues are managed professionally by Transport Supervisory team, taking responsibility for cases where required.
* To maintain effective relationships with all suppliers
* To maintain a strong and effective relationship with the on site Team, working collaboratively to achieve and exceed targets
* To work with the team to seek ways to improve current ways of working.
* To maintain positive working relationships with internal and external parties
* To maintain a strong and effective working relationship with the trade union
* To ensure Yard Management systems and processes ensuring are fully utilised and maintain effectively.
* To deputise for Transport Manager as and when required

**Skills**

* Knowledge of transport operations and management
* Knowledge of transport management systems
* Up to date knowledge of drivers hours and working time regulations
* Experienced People Manager
