Our client is looking for a senior Warehouse Operative who would be responsible for the daily activity within the retail warehouse operation in line with budgetary, service and performance standards. The role will include, but is not limited to

* Take responsibility for part of the Retail operation on a shift basis and control activity and people within that area.
* Take responsibility for the effective training and induction of any new members of the team that are assigned to work in the area you are responsible for. Training to be in line with documented process and procedures.
* Liaise closely with the site management team and actively support them in the effective running of the shift in line with agreed budgetary, service and performance standards.
* Carry out your duties in accordance with the agreed operational procedures and in line with any training given.
* Take responsibility for your own health and safety and the standards in the area you are responsible for.
* Maintain good standards of housekeeping and organisation in the warehouse.
* Handle all stock, equipment and property in the warehouse with care and record usage, damage or variance promptly and as per required procedure.
* Follow instructions from your manager and participate in team briefs or feedback sessions.
* Actively support a safety first culture and report any safety issues with people, process or equipment to your line manager.
* Carry out any task as instructed by the management teams in all areas to support the good running of the warehouse and transport operations.

A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualities

* Previous experience in a supervisory or leading hand role is highly desirable.
* A good knowledge of warehouse operational process and procedure in all areas.
* Good standards of literacy, numeracy and ICT competence.
* Good communication skills
* FLT (Reach and Counterbalance) licence desirable
* Warehouse experience desirable.
* A willingness to seek improvement in the warehouse operation and to help lead the team through the changes needed.
* To have a clear understanding of the Health & Safety policies and procedures and assist towards ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
* Be able to drive to get to site.
